Welcome to the new school year! A message from Superintendent Jeremy Decker

Hello WUSD Community,

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year in the Windsor Unified School District! Whether this is your first year with a child in school or you are getting ready to say goodbye to a high school senior, we are glad you are here and look forward to sharing this journey with you.

It is extremely important to me that you are able to have your questions answered and your potential concerns heard. As such, I want to use this letter to outline a few things ahead this year and share how you can be part of the conversation.

Sippin' With The Superintendent

Last year we started a new event called “Sippin' With The Superintendent”, and it was popular enough that we are expanding it this year. These are casual gatherings hosted at each school site, and everyone is welcome at any of them regardless of which site is hosting. They are a chance to sit down with me and ask whatever is on your mind about the district. I don’t come with an agenda, I come to listen. If I do not know the answer to your question, I will make sure someone who does gets back to you. They are also a good way to hear the facts behind a particular issue or policy and to connect with other families. Most are morning events, and we will hold two evening sessions this fall for families who need that time slot. Dates are announced through ParentSquare and on our social media channels. I hope to see you there.

School Facilities Bond Measure

You may be aware that the Board of Trustees has voted to place a $94 million school facilities bond measure on the November 3, 2026 ballot. It is titled Measure J. Measure J would fund facility work across the district. Specifically, Measure J will be used to repair and upgrade aging classrooms, fix/replace deteriorating roofs, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and safety systems (among other things). Most notably, the measure would not increase current property tax rates. Academics

We remain focused on improving academic outcomes and supporting growth for every student. Last year we saw gains in several areas, but we strive to improve even more in the coming year. You are an especially meaningful part of the work that we do to help your children become their best selves. Encouraging good study habits, supporting consistent sleep and meals, making sure your student is at school every day, and treating schoolwork as a priority all reinforce what our teachers do in the classroom. Education is a team effort, and you are a significant part of the team.
